School buses and the iconic VW bus were popular amongst the hippies during the 60s and 70s. Often a psychedelic paint job embraced the bus, complete with a peace symbol that would replace the Volkswagen logo. Hitchhiking was also way of transportation during the 60s and 70s. Hippies were usually always on the road in groups, going from one love-in to the next and the VW bus was the perfect mode of transportation.
