The hippie movement or youth movement began in the mid 60s in the United States and quickly spread around the world. In 1967 the summer of love kicked off the hippie movement with Love inns, Be inns and the Monterey Pop Festival, flower power was in full bloom. Fashion amongst the hippies included embroidered peasant tops, long printed skirts and dresses, fringe vests, and bell bottom jeans. Hippies also often went barefoot or wore sandals or moccasins, their hair was long and they usually wore beads or a peace sign around their neck. Transportation included VW buses, because hippies liked to travel in groups, if they weren't tuckin in a VW bus, then they were trying to hitch a ride. Many hippies liked to hitch hike. The three main things that were important to the hippie lifestyle were Peace Love and music. Hippies loved music and enjoyed going to the many music festivals throughout the sixties and seventies such as the Monterey Pop festival, Isle Of Wight festival, Woodstock, Knebworth rock festival, Bardney pop Festival and many more.
